485 BRINGS THE YUMMY TO CROWNY

Crown Street in Sydney's Surrey Hills is becoming the place De jour for many a new cafe or restaurant some of them great and some not so great...
There definitely has being a huge gap between the pricey modern cafe/restaurant and the dingy/old and cheap places that have being around for yonks. Finally there comes a cafe that sits in the middle of that gap, funky and cool with great food and great prices my new favourite hang out called "four ate five" which of course is at number 485 Crown Street.
So whether you're just hankering after a great cup of coffee or need to fuel up on some DELICIOUS food then check them out. Have a chat to the cute and friendly staff and see what they're recommending for the day, everything on the menu is great but of course different people will whittle down the choices to their own favourites lol!!!
Maybe I'll see you there this weekend enjoying the great vibe and yummy food, but be prepared to line up for a table as it seems I'm not the only one who thinks they're fantastic :)

Audience For One - Deserves an Audience of Many

As a singer people are always suggesting music I should listen to or songs they think I should sing at my gigs. Very rarely do I ever come across a song or a band I haven't already heard of, but then again when it happens like today it normally blows me away!!

I just received an email a few minutes ago from a good friend suggesting I listen to Audience of One by a Band called - Cold War Kids, just the name intrigued me so I instantly went a searching for it.

From the opening of the chorus on the sample I was hooked, with a touch of Rock mixed with some Soul and Blue's it's a hybrid of emotion with a sense of Dignity. Nathan Willett (lead vocal, guitar, piano) has a voice filled with raw emotion that makes you feel as if he's singing about your own personal situation. The rest of this amazing band is made up of Jonathan Bo Russel (guitar, piano, vocals), Matt Aviero (drums, percussion) and Matt Maust (bass). This is a band singing about pain and emotion without the cheesiness attached.

I'm in Love with Audience of One and the band behind it Cold War Kids

Don't take my word for it though check out their music and see for yourself!!!

The Loss of a Genius - Alexander McQueen

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go."- T.S. Eliot"

Today I heard the shocking news of the passing away of a fashion genius, the amazing Alexander McQueen.

The news left me reeling, the world had definitely lost a creative mastermind. This made me think never to take for granted any moment in life, always let people around you know how amazing you think they are and how much you appreciate and love them.

R.I.P Alexander McQueen.

Ahhhhhhhhh CHOO - Bless you Jimmy

I was chatting to a friend of mine in the states yesterday trying to encourage him over girl troubles, when in the midst of one of my Dr Phil moments he mentioned the Choo...

What did i hear right???

Ok ok let me get back to how we got there, he was telling me that he had turned down playing American football for a college last year to stay back for his now ex-girlfriend, I then said what a shame to have missed out on a great opportunity. He then told me the college had offered it to him again this year and he was accepting the offer and he hoped one day to own a Superbowl ring, and maybe I could dress him for his endorsement deals. Loving a good challenge I said yes and that's when it happened. I said Armani suit and he said with Jimmy Choo high tops.

Pow bang bang I saw star's, I furiously googled it and fell in lust instantly.

Still waiting to find out when they will hit our shores, but I will be saving furiously to get them. For those of you sneaker fanatics this will definitely the Holy Grail of sneakers.

Lord help us ha ha ha...

Invictus - not just for Rugby fan's

I recently went with a friend to watch Invictus the new offering from veteran director Clint Eastwood. I was looking forward to a great storyline being part Biopic on the life of Nelson Mandela, but it turned out to be much more then that.
I found myself laughing with Joy, cheering with excitement, and crying with awe as I watched a man who went through so much suffering still have the strength to offer compassion and kindness to those who had caused him injustice...
It is a beautiful story brought to life by the amazing Morgan Freeman - playing Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon - playing Francois Pienaar the then South African rugby union captain.
It is definitely a must see and below is the Poem that Mandela read to keep him inspired and strong whilst in prison, and where the name of the movie comes from...

Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Hint Hint

So Valentine's day is coming up and for those of us who advocate the single life this is the time of the year where not having a significant other is most prominent...
So I'm just putting it out there if you're feeling rather charitable and want to show someone (namely ME) the real meaning of Valentine's Day i.e about sharing friendship and love ( lol) then this is my favourite PICK of the week.....
Funky and priced at an affordable $145 with the look of Lux - The Ice watch is it for a Valentine's Day gift for any guy...

In The Beginning

People are always asking me for advice on places to eat, what kind of furniture to buy, help with fashion styling etc etc etc, so i thought I'd put it all in a blog...
It will be weekly and will list a whole spectrum of my favourite things for the week from shops with great sales on, new eateries and wine bars to check out, music, bands, jewellery, fashion and much more...

For those of you that know me personally (and those that don't will soon find out), I love food and discovering new places to eat. So this week its an often taken for granted, much frequented Pub/Hotel called The Clock Hotel

www.clockhotel.com.au

470 Crown St
Surrey Hills NSW 2010
(02) 9331 5333

Sunday's at The Clock is my favourite day from 5 till midnight they have half $5 drinks and a bistro menu that doesn't break the budget and is absolutely amazing...
I would recommend the beef burger ( normally Wagyu beef) and the Crispy Skin Ocean Trout yumm yumm... SO if you're free on a Sunday afternoon check it out...
